Distributor, Employees Raises Thousands to Bring Holiday Cheer to Kids at Detroit’s Sarah Fisher Center

DETROIT – Employees at family owned company Eastown Distributors banded together for the 22nd year this Christmas to play Santa and bring some holiday cheer to children at the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center in Detroit. The third‐generation business based in Highland Park and its employees raised $4,811 this year to buy gifts, clothes, books, school supplies and other items for dozens of children at the center, which provides a range of support and educational programs to at‐risk children in Detroit as well as to adults. “Our team at the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center can’t thank the staff of Eastown enough for their generosity,” said Diane Renaud, Executive Director/CEO, St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center. “Eastown is a family‐owned business that truly supports the community.   Year after year, they support other families in our areas – making Christmas possible through the generous hearts of the Eastown family!”    The donations were delivered to the Center on December 17th and 18th, 2013.   “We know that without our donation to the Center, some of the children there might not be celebrating with a new gift or toy,” said Eastown President Paul J. Quasarano. “Year after year, our employees remain committed to supporting this outstanding Center.  And for many of us, being able to bring a little cheer to kids in our community represents a highlight of our holiday season.” In addition to purchasing gift for children in the after‐school program, Renaud said the donation will be used to purchase much‐needed materials intended to help families at the Center.    Founded in 1933, Eastown Distributors is a family‐owned business now in its fourth generation.  Eastown has grown from a 1,000 square‐foot warehouse to its current 120,000 square‐foot facility employing  over 100 employees and servicing 1,700 customers.  For more information, visit www.eastown.com.
